Loganair announces finalises for 'A Season of Connections' competition
Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, has announced the three finalists who have a chance to win a year’s worth of flights through its A Season of Connections competition.
Inspired by the airline’s uplifting and heartwarming Christmas advert, Loganair, Actually, the competition asked entrants from across the UK to submit an image or video that captures a heartwarming moment of connection with their loved ones.
Deirdre Mahon, from Derry, received the surprise of a lifetime when her children, Eimear and Odhrán, returned home for Christmas after her husband’s sudden passing earlier in the year. Eimear flew in from Brighton, and later that evening, Deirdre discovered Odhrán had travelled from London.
Graham Stevenson, a 56-year-old Edinburgh local who lives with learning disabilities, cherishes his family’s annual Christmas celebrations in Cornwall, where he reconnects with his family, including his treasured nieces and nephews. This year’s festive Santa duck race on the beach was a particularly joyful moment for Graham.
Northern Ireland-based Gemma McMullan, a breast cancer survivor, completed a gruelling 100km trek across the Himalayas to raise £11,000 for the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel! After ten months of training and nine days of hiking, Gemma returned home to an emotional reunion with her five-year-old daughter Mara at Belfast International Airport, captured in a heartwarming video.
The three finalists have the chance to win a year’s worth of free flights for themselves and a companion on Loganair’s extensive network, while two runners-up will be treated to return flights for two on the airline’s iconic Glasgow to Barra route, which famously lands on the beach.
Lyn MacDonald, Head of Marketing and Brand at Loganair, said:
“'A Season of Connections' has highlighted the powerful moments that unite us. From Deirdre’s bittersweet Christmas reunion to Graham’s cherished family traditions and Gemma’s triumphant return from her charity trek, each story showcases the enduring strength of human connection. We’re thrilled to celebrate these heartwarming moments and the resilience they reflect.”
Public voting for the competition’s finalists is now open and will close at midnight on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025. The winner will be announced on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, and will receive a year of free flights for themselves and a companion.
