Loganair appoints new Director of Safety and Sustainability

Rebecca Borresen will be joining Loganair as Director of Safety and Sustainability on 1st October, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, responsible for delivering the safety and sustainability strategies, ensuring Loganair has a ‘gold-standard’ approach to these critical subjects.

Rebecca brings extensive experience in safety, risk and project management within aviation and other major hazard industries and has played a major part in the formulation and delivery of sustainability initiatives in her previous roles. Rebecca has worked across the oil and gas industry, delivering continuous improvement within process safety and major hazards management, and was ultimately responsible for the aviation safety brief for the UK offshore industry, collaborating with helicopter operators to drive standardisation and implement best practices across the operator group.

Rebecca joined Babcock Offshore Helicopters as Safety Manager, responsible for developing and implementing an improved safety management system (SMS) and delivered a raft of initiatives and new ways of working to drive positive cultural change. After a short period working in engineering risk management, Rebecca returned to aviation, initially as Safety Manager and latterly as Deputy COO at Helicopter Air Ambulance provider Specialist Aviation Services (now Gama Aviation), again delivering a new and industry-leading SMS and developing an open and transparent safety culture within the organisation, before moving to more operational and project leadership roles including spearheading several sustainability initiatives within the company and with external partners as. Most recently, Rebecca has been the Chief Operations Officer at Eco-Jet.

CEO of Loganair Luke Farajallah said:

"This is another key appointment for Loganair as we continue to attract exceptional people to our already talented team. I am especially pleased that we have attracted someone who learnt her craft in the heavily regulated and safety-driven environment of the Oil & Gas industry.

Bringing together people who have wide-ranging industry experience and from diverse backgrounds is a fundamental part of what makes any company successful. There are few subjects more relevant and important to an airline than Safety and Sustainability. Rebecca will also be heavily involved in our partnership with Hybrid-Electric aircraft manufacturer Heart Aerospace as we push forward on our decarbonisation agenda.

We welcome Rebecca to the Loganair team as we strive for excellence in everything we do as we build a bright and sustainable future."
