Loganair flights to Cardiff take off from Glasgow
Loganair services between Glasgow and Cardiff have take off, the first air connection between the two cities since summer 2019.
Scotland's airline begins a year-round, daily schedule that will connect the two cities - designed to enable business or leisure trips of different durations – including weekends, long weekends and short breaks.
Operated by Loganair’s 49-seat Embraer 145 jet aircraft, with a flight time of only one hour and 15 minutes, it will become Loganair’s 10th route from Glasgow Airport – where it has been based since 1962.
The launch will be welcome news for rugby fans who are considering their travel options ahead of the Super Saturday Six Nations match between Wales and Scotland at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
There is currently no direct rail service between Scotland’s biggest city and the Welsh capital and car journey times can take upwards of seven hours.
Across all its routes, Loganair provides 15 kg of complimentary baggage allowance, in-flight refreshments and the option to join Clan Loganair – the airline’s competitive reward programme for frequent flyers. Business customers can also choose between a range of fare products for the flexibility they need.
Kay Ryan, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: “This is an important business route to the Welsh capital and both Glasgow and Cardiff offer excellent shopping and nightlife opportunities. They are also home to some of the UK’s most prestigious universities.
“Rugby fans will also be delighted with this new route launch, allowing travelling supporters to take in Six Nations matches and Pro14 clashes between Glasgow Warriors and Cardiff Blues.”
