Carlisle Lake District Airport readies for historic take-off

Carlisle, Thursday 27 June: Carlisle Lake District Airport is readying for take-off with just a week to go before its historic launch of commercial flights on Thursday 4 July.

The Stobart Group-owned and operated airport has teamed-up with Loganair to offer routes to and from London Southend Airport, Belfast City Airport and Dublin Airport, opening Cumbria and the Lake District region to the South East of England, Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland.

The routes are on sale and tickets are available via www.loganair.co.uk. Fares to Belfast City start from £39.99 and to Dublin and London Southend from £44.99.

The airport, which once served as an RAF airfield, has been transformed thanks to a new and modern terminal, its own Borderlands Café and new runways and taxiways.

The launch of commercial flights at Carlisle Lake District Airport has already attracted international media attention and the airport aims to draw-in business and travel customers from across the UK, The Republic of Ireland and much further afield.

 

Amongst other top attractions and business destinations, the airport is situated next two UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Lake District National Park and Hadrian’s Wall, the former frontier of the Roman Empire in the UK.
