Your Journey, Stephen's Joy.
Stephen, always delivering for his customers...
From postman to pilot - Stephen knows how to get the job done. Flying wasn't always on the radar for him as a career but after a few diversions, Stephen eventually found his way to the flight deck.
With hobbies as varied as the routes we fly, Stephen's got a great story to share.
Stephen's Journey to the Skies...
After leaving school, Stephen's first love was photography, for which he studied in several qualifications. This took him to work in a museum as their in-house snap-happy specialist. A vintage Auster aircraft was homed in the museum, which was the initial spark to peak his aviation interests.
Stephen completed his private pilot license before doing further training to gain his qualifications to command the Auster itself. From there, he and his trusted companion flew to various European airshows. Eventually, he jumped to commercial flying, but only after moving to the Isle of Man and becoming a postal service plane pilot.

When Off Duty...
Living on the Isle of Man, Stephen found a love of motorcycles - while not quite at the level of competing in the TT, he has road-tripped Europe with friends. Back at home, his passion for photography is still going strong. With his dark room for film development, Stephen's got all the gear for the next plane spotting trip.
With a large family and 'lots' of grandchildren, Stephen has plenty of tales to tell from his time in the clouds. And rounding things off with one of the most unique hobbies, both Stephen and his wife maintain the local Steeple voluntarily, as 'Steeple Keeper' and 'Bell Ringer', respectively.
The Joy of The Job Itself...
Giving back to the next generation of pilots is an absolute joy for Stephen. Whether imparting some wisdom or sharing trade secrets, he enjoys watching the development of the upcoming classes. With five years at Loganair and countless more before his time with the tartan tail, Stephen plans to retire in early 2024 and will be missed.
Back in the crew room, Stephen continues his annual campaign to recruit as many of his local colleagues to take part in the annual 'Peel Dip' on New Year's Day to raise money for many great charitable causes.
