On the other hand, located on the banks of the River Tyne, the Quayside is the place to go for award-winning gastropubs and other stunning venues which are always popping up. And if a night filled with good beer is what you're after, with all its microbreweries, Dean street is where you need to be. And last but not least, we’d like to mention our favourite venues for a night out in Newcastle; The Botanist; a cocktail bar home to some unusual concoctions, Above; a Rooftop Bar on the top of the Vermont Hotel, Stack Newcastle; a vibrant social hub and Chachabuchi; a quirky all-rounded day and night experience!

Newcastle is every shopaholics’ dream! ..And the perfect place for anyone needing some retail therapy. From independent retailers and vintage clothing to well-known designer brands, the city is brimming with shops. Based in the heart of the city and with over 51 retailers, Northumberland street is the major shopping street in Newcastle. And for those rainy winter days, with its remarkable shopping centres, Newcastle has got you covered! Two shopping centres worth a mention are Metrocentre and Central Arcade. Located near to the River Tyne, Metrocentre has been a legendary destination since 1986 and is known as the UK’s original mega-mall. On the other hand, built in 1906, Central Arcade is a must-visit tourist attraction situated in the city centre. Its spectacular architecture and selection of independent boutiques undoubtedly provide a unique shopping experience!
Indulge in Gourmet Food
Newcastle is full of incredible restaurants, cafés, food markets and brunch spots to try out, making it an excellent location for any foodie! For something a bit different and to experience all the cuisines under one roof, By The River Brew Co. and Grainger Market are two food markets that are not to be missed out on. By The River Brew Co. is an independent container settlement situated beneath the Tyne Bridge on the Gateshead side of the river. The market is open during weekends all throughout the year, and for New Year’s Eve, they’re also hosting an event where there will be food, drinks, fireworks and so much more! Alternatively, Grainger Market is an indoor market located right in the heart of the city, with a wide variety of different cuisines, authentic shops and independent cafes in one location.
